Improving conservation planning in the south-central United States

Formal Title: Conservation Planning Atlas for the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative

Research Focus: Geospatial technology

Conservation & Management Challenges:

Comprehensive geospatial data covering the area of the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative is needed to better inform and improve countless conservation efforts and help partners convey a shared vision and priorities for this area in geospatial terms.

Research Overview:

Developing this science is a priority for the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative. The comprehensive Conservation Planning Atlas is an emerging technology that makes a vast amount of geospatial data more easily accessible and available at no cost to conservation partners. It is a platform that serves data in a consistent manner and allows users to discover, access, and integrate existing data and tools. It will greatly support geospatial components of all Gulf Coast Prairie LCC projects. It also will be integrated with similar data platforms covering other areas of the country for broader benefit.

Results:

The Conservation Planning Atlas is live and will be continually updated and supplemented as more data and information is finalized.
