Former First Lady Laura Bush and other experts will kick off the South-Central Monarch Symposium on Wednesday morning, May 31, at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. Monarch butterfly populations have declined by up to 90 percent over the past 20 years with loss of habitat cited as a major contributing factor. The two-day symposium brings together scientists, experts and leaders from many prominent organizations, including the Gulf Coast Prairie LCC, involved in efforts to recover the monarch in the South-Central portion of its migratory pathway.
When: May 31, 8 - 9:15 a.m.
